Committee Chair: Charlie Nitschke
The goal of the Evangelism Ministry is to work to build up the Body of Christ, help bring newcomers into the church while proclaiming the gospel to those who cross our paths of life. All saints and sinners are welcome.
Overall, our ministry focuses on providing a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere to all visitors and to our HTLC families to promote an encouraging and Christ-centered experience within (and outside) our church activities. We are all God’s children and we strive to communicate the message of support, comfort, encouragement and acceptance to all.
Some of the things we do to support our goal is to welcome visitors and provide information about HTLC’s Mission and Vision through:
- new member brochures
- provision of brochures on “What Lutherans Believe”
- reach out to visitors who wish to learn more about out HTLC family with visitations (bringing bread and welcome bags)
- encourage visitation to our church by creating an invitational banner on the back fence of the church for those who are exiting the Ballad Health hospital parking garage in downtown Kingsport
We support our HTLC families by:
- providing coffee & snacks ministry before services
- encourage use of name tags
- keep in contact with homebound & nursing home members through phone calls & visitation
- develop & maintain a telephone tree as a communication tool for our families and friends to offer comfort & encouragement
- timely provision of & updates to our Pictorial Directory which helps members, friends & visitors to identify members & staff in connecting faces with names more easily
Through activities, events & programs, it is our hope that new members feel welcomed and current members feel appreciated. New members are always welcome to join this ministry – we need to grow.
